Mankind has always been interested in the sea, especially in the commanding and controlling of the immense bodies of water. The oceans cover up to 72% of the Earth’s surface. Trying to capture and control the waters on Earth is a difficult task and therefore one that should not be pursued.

Throughout history, people have regarded the sea as a companion, rather than another exploitable form of nature. The sea we sailed, guided us to new lands and opportunities. With respect we let seas guide us elsewhere. But through time, people became more aware of their powers, exploiting nature in their advantages.

That what doesn’t have a voice, is to be controlled, is what we assume. We as people often think the seas and oceans are ours already. Insanely large and yet in a critical phase of deconstruction because of human activities. Overfishing, bycatch, dying coral reefs, fish farming and rising water levels are merely examples of the destructive ways we treat the 7 oceans our Earth has.

Is it too late to bring our sailors' mentality back? To be guided by and be respectful to the seas? FLUCTUS, Latin for wave, was created to represent the connection we have with the waters. Set sail to shimmering lights. The beautiful colors of light the sunset reflects on the surface of the water brings pure nostalgia.

Waves can be beautiful, but if we come too close, a storm may rise...
